Naturally Organic
A decision was taken in early 2006 to review our core ingredients and menus, during the course of the discussion the possibility of using Organic produce was stumbled upon.
Brambles then undertook market research on the current use of Organic Produce within the market and also the possible supply.
The market research came back and showed that there was a huge interest in good wholesome food, cooked like at home while using, where possible, organic produce.
Sample tasting’s were also undertaken and the response was definitive with 100% of Organic items tasted beating their non-organic counterpart proving that the use of pesticides and less healthy soils does impair the flavour of the foods.
Science also pointed us toward going organic with research showing that Organic foods had up to 10 times the amount of mineral content than non-organic items.
The decision was taken in the middle of 2006 to aim toward Organic Ingredients in all of our products whether in the stores or on outside catering events.
We contacted several farmers based in Ireland with a view to them growing organic vegetables for use in Brambles and decided upon Gold Farm who produce 100 % Organic Vegetables.
Gold farm are currently supplying us with 80-90% of our vegetables and have already sowed the crop for next spring/summer where they will increase the variety available to us.
We have also recently begun using Organic Meat & Poultry products sourced 100% in Ireland meaning that ultimately our aim is to be 100% Organic.
Brambles are fully Feíle Bia approved.
We feel the decision to produce as much as possible of our food from organic produce will increase the quality and further differentiate ourselves from the mass factory produced products available from most of our competitors.
